Songkran gave me the mechanism I needed — water as revelation, the moment when fabric becomes transparent and what was hidden becomes visible. The Chong are a small Mon-Khmer group in eastern Thailand, nearly assimilated, their textile traditions barely surviving. I fused them with Piedmontese indienne printing because both cultures encode protection into pattern. The silver fish aren't decoration — they're her grandmother's last fluent sentence in a language this woman was raised to wear but never taught to read. The water makes the cloth translucent, and suddenly she sees. — Lux
