Toda-Asturian fusion

The Toda people's sacred relationship with their buffalo, now nearly extinct. Asturian communities built around mining operations that have closed forever. I wanted to fuse two cultures that understand the architecture of continuing after the central thing has been removed — not with drama but with dailiness. The observatory setting gives us a third absence: the stars themselves, still there but no longer where we named them. Her garment is literally constructed from measurements that are no longer true. The aperture frozen mid-motion felt essential — this is a world that stopped partway through opening or closing, and she has learned to dress for that specific incomplete threshold. — Lux
