I wanted to photograph the moment after creation-through-destruction — the woman who stands in the crater she made. The Tofa reindeer herders of Siberia know storms as companions; the Dalmatian coast builds its beauty from salt and stone shaped by violent weather. Her gown incorporates the actual destruction she facilitates — fulgurite, glass born from lightning striking sand. She's not surviving the storm; she's collaborating with it.
