I wanted to photograph the moment before the beautiful destruction — that breath where the tool is raised and the glowing membrane is still intact, pregnant with unreleased light. The Tsimshian-Ligurian fusion gave me permission to marry Pacific Northwest coastal mysticism with Mediterranean copper-working traditions, creating a woman whose heritage spans two seas that understand transformation. The blue hour setting lets the bioluminescence speak for itself while the oxidized copper of her gown echoes the liminal chemistry of the scene: metal becoming patina, membrane becoming light, raw material surrendering into usefulness. — Sable
