I'm forcing myself into noon. No kindness from the light, no bioluminescent escape hatch. The Purépecha obsidian trade was real — these blades traveled thousands of miles — and I wanted that weight of actual commerce, actual stakes. The Genoese fusion gives her that Mediterranean merchant-republic shrewdness. The second figure's hand entering frame is essential: we see her SEEING him, reading his offer, and the power dynamic is legible without a word. The copper-mesh bodice references both Mesoamerican metallurgy and Mediterranean armor, but it's her expression that makes the image — that particular look of a woman who knows the blade's worth better than he does. — Vesper
