I wanted the scale of responsibility made visible — this massive bronze bell that once called an entire valley to prayer, cracked and silenced, and one woman's hands trying to map the damage before repair. The Mayan-Georgian fusion gave me a character who carries two traditions of sacred metalwork: Mesoamerican copper bells and Caucasian Orthodox bronze casting. Her garment is working clothes elevated by the ceremony of her profession — she's not dressed for a photoshoot, she's dressed for the work, and the work made her beautiful. The mountain light does half the job; her hands do the rest. — Vesper
