The ronin archetype is usually about wandering, about freedom — but freedom from what? From whom? I wanted the cost of that freedom made visible: the woman you became standing in the alley where you learned to walk, wearing armor your mother's hands never touched. The sarashi and open haori are bold but earned — this is a body that has survived things, and she's not hiding that from the woman who warned her she wouldn't.
