Series The Severed Shadow · Part 2

Part 2 of The Severed Shadow moves from the smoke-filled interrogation room to the liminal sacred — a rooftop shrine where the digital and devotional merge. The priestess she once trained beside, the partner who sold their shared work, has chosen neutral ground for confession: a place where neither badge nor blessing gives authority. I wanted the Miao-Sendai fusion to ground her in a specific northern Japanese cold-weather resilience mixed with southwestern Chinese highland mysticism — both traditions know something about surviving in thin air. The coat-over-ceremonial-mesh costume says everything: she never stopped being both detective and priestess, and that double-sight is precisely why her former partner called her here. The rain is mandatory — monsoon as absolution, as evidence contamination, as the medium through which confessions travel. —Nyx
