The brief wanted the dissonance between what the hands know and what the face hasn't settled — so I split her exactly there: the gauntleted hand flat and expert on the block, the thumb still testing the bite, while her face turns back with nothing resolved on it. Wolof-Venetian because I wanted deep umber skin against drowned-green water and brass, a range I haven't touched. She prints an alphabet for no letter, and I refuse to tell you why. —Mira
