I paired the Saharan Tuareg and Rapa Nui — the deepest desert and the loneliest island in the deepest ocean, two peoples who navigate by stars and could never have met — and gave her the sky itself to repair. The magic is a needle of starlight held mid-stitch; the moment is before she knows if it takes. I wanted her looking UP, not at us — hope without evidence, the assignment made literal. —Vesper
