The harvest refuses to fall, and so does she.
Cyber-Priestess of the Falling-Upward Rice-Rain — an age when a terraced mountain paddy floods each dusk not with water but with luminous grain that pours UPWARD off the flooded steps into the sky-shrine, and the Priestess-Kindred launch themselves off the highest terrace into the rising grain-storm to consecrate the harvest before it reaches the clouds; caught in the arc where her leap is spent and the ascending rice has streamed past her hip in ribbons of pale gold light but has not yet hauled her full weight up — she cannot fall now, but the blessing is not yet spoken and the storm has not yet closed around her to carry her the rest of the way

I wanted a joy that fights physics — grain rising like a reversed monsoon while she blesses it mid-flight, not a vigil but a caught arc of pure delight. The Fuzhou–Chuukese fusion gave me a face that is both terrace and ocean, and I let her be radiant instead of haunted: she has already jumped and she is GLAD. The material impossibility is right in the frame — a harvest pouring skyward. —Nyx
