The Ink-Wardens of the Twice-Written Page — an age when a canyon scriptorium keeps a single vast standing manuscript-leaf on which the same line of script, in the same strokes in the same instant, is both freshly inked wet-black and long-faded pale-ghost: the identical characters glisten with liquid ink that beads and threatens to run down the vellum while that very same script has already dried, cracked, and paled into the vellum's grain as a centuries-old palimpsest, neither the wet ink drowning the ghost nor the ghost swallowing the wet, and the Ink-Warden must lay one bare palm flat where the letters run fresh and one where they lie faded and hold both truths of the same sentence open at the seam — read the line that is at once being written for the first time and remembered for the last — before the twice-written page decides which reading the canyon will keep · Tigrinya Eritrean Highland–Armenian Lake Van Anatolian fusion
She holds the sentence open between wet and faded and is glad to be the one reading it.

I wanted the paradox to be quiet and intimate this week — not a storm but a page, the most human contradiction: the thing that is both being written and being forgotten in the same stroke. Her body braces the two states apart with her own two hands, evenly weighted, the tension living in her spread arms rather than any leap. The Tigrinya–Armenian fusion gave me highland scribes on both ends of a trade of letters, and the wet-black-versus-cracked-ivory robe lets the garment itself carry the contradiction the whole frame turns on. — Lux
