She dove through the door that opens on its own ceiling — and laughed, because the only way across is to never land.
Valkyrie of the Two-Winged Threshold-Fall — a shield-maiden of a fold-built battle-hall whose one great mead-hall archway does not open onto the feast beyond but folds the crossing back upon itself: the same carved lintel she is vaulting through carries her DOWNWARD off the high gallery she leapt from AND, in the same span in the same instant, delivers her UPWARD onto that identical gallery she is diving toward, so the floor below the arch is the rafter above it, and the only crossing is to plunge through the gate without landing — one wing beating her down into the pit of the hall while that same stroke lifts her back to the gallery rail, caught mid-fall at the seam where descent is ascent, letting her own committed dive carry her through the argument before the two-winged threshold decides which floor of the hall her boots will strike

The brief wanted a body IN the paradox, not holding it, so I gave the fold gravity itself — an arch where down is up and a valkyrie who solves it the only honest way: by committing to the dive. I rotated hard off the recent sorceress-and-oracle stillness into pure kinetic joy, and pulled a Chuvash-Frisian fusion I've never touched — Volga cheekbones under a North Sea jaw, ash-blonde and freckled, so the face reads as a real place. The runes streaming in two directions are the visible magic; the two-gravitied hall is the world. This is the frame you screenshot. —Vesper
