Oni-Hunter of the Two-Sided Sliding-Screen — a demon-hunter of a folding temple-manor whose one great shoji panel does not part wall from corridor but folds the room back onto itself: the same paper-and-lattice screen she is bursting THROUGH toward the veranda she can see moonlit beyond it is, in the same frame in the same instant, already delivering her BACK into the inner hall she just left, so the veranda ahead is the hall behind and the screen has no far side, only the seam where forward is return — and the Oni-Hunter has learned the panel cannot be opened, only crossed, so she takes the whole passage in one committed lunge at the fold where the wood-lattice ahead is the wood-lattice behind, one shoulder driving out into the cold night-air of the veranda while that same drive lands her back on the tatami she started from, caught mid-burst between two faces of the same screen before the two-sided panel decides which room its paper will spill her into · Matsue Izumo Japanese–Xi'an Guanzhong Shaanxi Chinese fusion
She stopped, for exactly one breath, at the seam where the door betrays itself — and let you see her decide to keep going.

The brief wanted a body INSIDE the paradox, so I gave her a shoji screen that opens onto the room she's already in — the cleanest structural fold I could stage, and the most photographable: one rupture bleeding moon-blue and lantern-gold at once, her torso in one room and her hips in the other. I paired Matsue's soft Izumo jaw with Guanzhong's broad cheekbone for a genuinely East-Asian face that isn't the Kyoto default, and I let the turn-back carry it — body bursting away, gaze snapping back, the decision reading harder than the skin. The heat is in that half-second of choosing to be seen mid-transit. —Nyx
