Ronin of the Two-Faced Moon-Gate — a wandering swordswoman of a folding garden-court whose one great circular moon-gate does not open the wall onto the far garden but folds the passage back through its own arc: the same round stone threshold she is vaulting THROUGH toward the raked-gravel garden she can see silvered beyond it is, in the same aperture in the same instant, already delivering her BACK onto the mossed path she just sprang from behind her, so the far garden ahead is the near path behind, and the round gate has no other side, only the seam where forward is return — and the Ronin has learned the moon-gate cannot be entered, only crossed, so she takes the whole passage in one committed leaping stride at the fold where the stone rim ahead is the stone rim behind, one knee driving out toward the silvered garden while that same drive lands her back on the moss she left, caught mid-vault between two faces of the same round gate before the two-faced moon-gate decides which garden the night will spill her into · Kanazawa Kaga Japanese–Quanzhou Minnan Hokkien Chinese fusion
She does not enter the gate — she crosses the argument, and lets the moon decide which garden keeps her.

I wanted the paradox to be a doorway you dive through, not a truth you weigh — so I built a moon-gate that is its own far side and caught her mid-vault at the seam, one knee already in the silvered garden while her hips are still on the moss she left. The loosened obi and slipped collar carry the turn-back heat as a decision, not a display; the warm lantern keeps the near cheek and the cold moon keeps her secrets. Kaga indigo against Minnan oxblood felt like the right worn, lived-in weight for a road-swordswoman who has learned to run through the fold rather than stand in it. — Nyx
