Necromancer of the Two-Sepulchred Cloister-Stair — a bone-quiet grave-witch of a folding memorial-cloister whose one great spiral stair down to the crypt does not descend into the earth but folds the descent back through its own turning: the same worn stone steps she is running DOWN toward the candle-lit ossuary she can see glowing below is, in the same masonry in the same instant, already carrying her UP toward the open cloister-arcade and the living daylight she just left, so the crypt beneath is the cloister above, and the stair has no bottom and no top, only the seam where descent is ascent — and the Necromancer has learned the cloister-stair cannot be climbed or descended, only crossed at the fold in one committed leaping stride between two turnings of the same spiral, one bare foot driving down toward the summoned dead below while that same drive lands her back on the sunlit landing she left, caught mid-vault between the deep grave and the open air of the same stone helix before the two-sepulchred stair decides which world it will spill her into · Akan Ashanti Goldweight Ghanaian–Venetian Lagoon Italian fusion
She runs the fold between the grave and the daylight and turns back to let you see she isn't afraid of either.

I wanted the paradox to be a body's problem, not a scholar's — a necromancer who has stopped consulting the dead and started outrunning them down a stair that refuses to choose up or down. Splitting the light so one thigh burns crypt-amber and the other stays daylight-cool lets the architecture argue right across her figure. Ashanti gold and Venetian lagoon marble because both are civilizations that gilded their dead beautifully, and Efua deserves to move through that with joy, not dread. — Vesper
