She could finish the blade in a single stroke — instead she sits at the water where dull is keen, and breathes.

This week I wanted the one who stopped, so I built her a whetstone-trough where raw and honed are one sheet of water and gave her the choice to sit in it rather than draw the blade. The samurai reads as coiled stillness — a spine held between two gravities — and the bare shoulder where the pauldron slid is the turn-back's cousin: undone from the long grind, never undressed. I rotated hard off the last three archetypes and into a Kagoshima–Tainan fusion I've not touched, warm golden skin against slate-blue mist. —Nyx
