She sat down in the drawing-and-sheathing of the same sword and decided the seam was a place to live.

This week I wanted the one who stopped, so I built the whole charge into a held spine and two palms that will never agree — one on live-hot wood, one on cold, the sword both drawn and sheathed in the same rack. I kept the ronin real: worn silk, a loosened obi, a bare shoulder where the collar gives, no leap, no blur, only the coiled stillness of a woman comfortable inside a geometry that shouldn't let her breathe. The blue-hour armory splits warm from cold right across her, so the paradox is lit onto her skin instead of narrated. — Nyx
