The brief asked for contested stillness — a body as an act of resistance — so I gave her the most primal seam there is: two tides slamming together, and her will the only thing holding them apart. The magic IS the resistance; the water-walls tremble because she is trembling. I fused Faroese Atlantic hardness with Zanzibari coastal warmth because both are salt-people who read the sea, and I wanted the joy of a woman who loves the fight, not one drowning in it. The cost lives in her forearms and jaw; the triumph lives in her eyes. —Vesper
